As a result of the allegations, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) suspended Lamichhane from the national team, and the Nepalese police issued an Interpol notice against him, leading to his addition to the Interpol police fugitive list.
Lamichhane surrendered himself to the Nepal police on 6 October 2022 and was taken to Gaushala, Kathmandu jail. Subsequently, the Kathmandu District Court ordered him to be held in Central Jail Sundhara for judicial custody until the final verdict. However, he was released on bail after posting a sum of Rs2 million set by the Patan High Court, despite the serious nature of the allegations against him.

Sandeep Lamichhane, a Nepalese cricketer, began playing cricket at the Chitwan Cricket Academy, where he was discovered by Paras Khadka, the Nepali Captain, and Pubudu Dassanayake, the former coach of the Nepal Cricket Team, at the age of 14 and was selected for the youth camp.
