Former US President Donald Trump has been arrested and brought to court.

The BBC reported that Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, has been arrested and taken into police custody. This marks the first time a US president has faced criminal charges, as he is facing a total of 34 charges against him. Despite the allegations, Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing. He surrendered himself at a Manhattan court and reiterated his innocence. The charges against him include illegally paying off porn star Stormy Daniels, amassing billions of dollars in assets illegally, destroying important documents from the White House, contesting the election results, and inciting his followers to attack the Capitol building.

As Trump’s supporters attempted to hold a protest rally outside the Manhattan court, security measures were heightened to prevent any potential clashes between opposing groups. The police erected a barricade between them and some protesters were also arrested.

Trump, who is 76 years old, traveled to New York from his home in West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday. He appeared in court on Tuesday where the charges against him were read out. Despite being formally arrested, he was not handcuffed. Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges, with his legal team stating that the accusations are politically motivated.

After leaving court, he returned to his home in Florida, where he addressed his supporters and once again maintained his innocence.
